This was my second trip to this lovely country in August 2019—after a few years. On my father’s side, my great-grandfather took the Calcutta route from India to Myanmar to make a living in Rangoon and Kayin state. They gradually left for Sri Lanka and Malaya.
On both my trips I have found friends to take me and show where my grandparents lived and their properties. On this trip I had the benefit of Myanmarese developer Thangaraj and his two doctor sons to help me explore more about my grandparents ancestral roots.
We visited the Shwedagon Pagoda on Kandawgyi Lake, a scenic spot.
Nagarathars true to their spirit built a Murugan temple just as in all other countries they emigrated to.
Studying for MBA has not escaped the imagination of the Myanmar youth too.
